About Me

My name is Lauren Camplin and I am currently a senior at DePaul University. I have a major in Journalism and Public Relations/Advertising. I’m very passionate about writing and currently hold the vice-president position in the Society of Professional Journalists student chapter at DePaul.

It has been rumored that I love Chicago sports more than my own mother, but that’s just a rumor. I started working on my journalism career when I was kid, writing short stories (and almost never finishing them) and some of the best “thank you” cards you’ve ever read. I realized that covering sports would be a perfect fit the day people started referring to me as “The Encyclopedia” of Chicago sports. I plan to one day incorporate my ambition to become a successful journalist with my love for the game.

Crinkled up proof that my love for sports was brainwashed in me at a young age.

While sports are my passion, I have gained experience in various forms of journalism. I have interned in non-profit communications, covered politics and investigative journalism for NBC and the Sun-Times, and written both opinion and game pieces for Midwest Sports Fans. I am capable of writing on all platforms including print, online, and broadcast. I have also covered games using social media.

On my blog you will see various posts from journalism classes, including Online Sports Reporting and Online Journalism I and II.
